I am pleased to announce that in mid-August, 2018, that I will be initiating/teaching an herbal and Chinese medical classics retreat with Sabine Wilms, professor and translator. The location will be in Taos/Santa Fe, New Mexico. We will combine study of Chinese medical classics: specifically, the Nei Jing Su Wen, the Nan Jing, and Shen Nong Ben Cao/Divine Farmer’s Materia Medica. We will also go on herb walks/hikes to find Chinese herbs that grow wild in the Sangre de Cristo mountains and adjoining desert areas, and then bring them back to our classroom at Redwing Book Company, Taos, to taste, process, and research these herbs using the principles outlined in the Shen Nong Ben Cao. Combined with beautiful lodging, hot springs visits, and the incomparable landscapes of New Mexico which provide the perfect backdrop for such study, this will be a trip to remember.
